Lou Kretlow
The late Lou Kretlow played baseball and basketball for the Pirates, graduating in 1941. He went on to do both for the University of Oklahoma before a 39-month stint with the Army Air Corps. After completion of his military duty, Kretlow was signed by the Detroit Tigers. He played ten seasons in the Major Leagues for the Tigers, St. Louis Browns, Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles and the Kansas City Athletics. Kretlow struck out many legendary names, including Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams. An interesting side note, Lou sunk the longest recorded hole in one in the history of golf in 1961 on the 16th hole at Lake Hefner. The shot was 427 yards.
