The Vann Family
The Vann family spread their talents across the three major sports for Putnam City and beyond. Bryce Vann Jr. was a Parade All-American running back in 1978 and was a starting running back on the undefeated 1977 state championship squad. He went on to be the District 9 rushing leader, twice, as a running back at Cameron University. Bruce Vann rushed for 958 yards for Central State’s (now UCO) 1983 playoff team. The late Brento Vann was an All-State running back and Oil Bowl selection as a Senior at Putnam City. He went on to earn Junior College All-American honors at Pasadena Community College before playing two seasons at Central State, where he rushed for 2,456 yards. Brandy Vann had an eight-year professional baseball career that peaked in 1993 when he played for the AAA affiliate of the New York Mets. Bryatt Vann averaged 16.9 points per game for the 1992-93 University of Oklahoma basketball team.
