Greg LaFever
The late Greg LaFever was a standout Pitcher for the Patriots in the early 1980’s. He was a First Team All-State selection as a Senior and continued his career with the powerful Wichita State Shockers. As a collegian, LaFever was outstanding. He was a 2x All-Conference selection and the 1984 WSU Pitcher of the Year. He graduated with a school record for career saves and was a member of the 1982 College World Series Runners-Up. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds as a Junior, but opted to stay in school. He was then drafted by Cleveland after his Senior season and played four seasons in the Minor leagues for them and the Los Angeles Dodgers. LaFever passed, after a battle with cancer, in 2015.
