1976 PC Two-Mile Relay

Putnam City already owned the mile relay state record, set in 1972.  In 1976, they took over the two-mile relay state record.  The team of Mike Ruggles, Rosie Nixon, Ken Murphey and Fred Mills broke the tape with a time of 7:52.2 to break the record and win the state championship.  They were coached by Hall of Famer Randy Helms.  Since Oklahoma moved to the metric system for track & field distances in 1983, this record was technically never broken.
