Carrie Heightley Schimmels
Carrie (Heightley) Schimmels was a two-sport star in the 1980’s for Putnam City West. She was a 2x All-City selection that also earned All-State as a Senior on the basketball court. On the softball field, Schimmels was also an All-State selection and helped lead her team to winning a state championship as a Junior. She went on to play softball at Texas A&M where she won an NCAA National Championship in 1987. She was also a member of the national runner-up squad in 1986 and a 5th place finisher in 1988. She twice earned All-Region recognition as an Aggie and led the team in hits, RBI’s, triples and total bases in 1988.
