Darrell Osteen
The late Darrell Osteen is one of only eight Putnam City District graduates to make it all the way to the Major Leagues. However, he is the only one to also make it to Hollywood. Osteen was the Oklahoman’s City Player of the Year on the baseball diamond in 1961 at Putnam City, as well as an All-State selection. He signed with the Cincinnati Reds and spent ten years in professional baseball with four of those seasons playing for the Reds and Oakland Athletics. His Major League career included a two-year hiatus to serve in the military. During his career, he was a teammate of Johnny Bench, Reggie Jackson, Rollie Fingers, Catfish Hunter, Frank Robinson, Tony Perez and others. After his baseball career, he landed a role on the soap opera “General Hospital” as Dr. Harry Fraser.
