Jerry Potter
The late Jerry Potter is the most decorated football coach that the Putnam City Pirates have ever had. Potter started the program at Harding High School in 1955 and was playing in the state finals by 1957. His Harding team also played for the title in 1961. After moving to coach at Putnam City, he built a dynasty in the mid-70’s. The Pirates won the state championship under Potter in 1974, 1975 and 1977. He coached NFL Hall of Famer Steve Largent among other great players. After amassing a 171-67-8 record as a coach, Potter was inducted into the National High School Hall of Fame in 2004.
